Our legacy & our values

About us

Who, where and why

"WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE"

I think as a Muslim Malay who is humbled by the efforts of our Egyptian grads to serve the Malays, the multiethnic nation and all of humankind. It has been a world class performance.

" HANTAR GAMBAR"

Hantarlah gambar asing masing. Senang nak kenal kalau terserempak. My memory only shows how you look when in Cairo.

" A REUNION"

We can and should have been a very strong organisation by now. I don’t even know that many people who used to be close to me are already gone. Let’s have a reunion.

Nasruddin Jaafar

What we did

We had fun

We were a diverse group of students and the formative years in Egypt are captured in our photos and our narratives.

What we achieved

Winds of change

We helped change the face of healthcare in Malaysia through our expertise in various areas of medicine, dentistry & pharmacy.

Where we are now

STILL HAVING FUN

Now in the twilight of our lives. let this record show for generations to come, how we helped shape the destiny of our country.

Let our data tell a story

Abdul Halim Yusof “di Medan Abbasiah. In background kulliyah tibb and on the right kulliyah ulum tempat buat premed. sekarang dah berubah, jalan raya dan ada overhead road”

More than 200 of us were in Egypt between 1970 and 1980, studying medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences. Eventually our paths diverged as we pursued  different dreams.  We served the country to the best of our ability and we all have stories to tell. Our database will be a testimony of this diversity and a record for posterity. LET YOUR DATA TELL A STORY before it is forgotten.

Right now I am collecting some very basic data first. Please take a look at the database below and  let us know if we have missed out on any or all of your information.

Currently the database is INCOMPLETE. I need your help to make it as complete as possible. Click below to download the database and check on your basic information. If there is anything to amend or to add, please contact me HERE.

See what the current data shows.....

TIMELINE FOR YEARS 1970 – 1978 BATCHES OF THE MALAYSIANS ENROLLED IN EGYTPIAN UNIVERSITIES

The timeline uses current data which I have in the existing database and compares it with WHO data for the years 1970 to 1980. The data shows the extent of contribution from each one of us to the healthcare system in Malaysia.

Some fun facts.....

It is interesting to take a look at the data. Here is a peek ….. details will be uploaded later into this blog

  1. In 2022 only 35 % of us are still registered with our professional councils
  2. 25 of our colleagues  are no longer with us
  3. Some of us have moved to other areas. Amongst us are a pilot, a CEO, a computer programmer,   a lawyer  and an engineer. Guess who they are!
  4. More than 90% attended pre university courses prior to entering medicine, dentistry or pharmacy.
  5. About 80% of us were from Residential Schools

All about the data.....

Mainly males
Majority studied medicine
Mainly based in Cairo
